Thirty PIC members and special academic guests attended the Patrons of Italian Culture 2025 Ferragosto event, held at the Urban Press Winery in Burbank, on Sunday Aug. 10, as reported by Paul Romano, Patrons President.

This was a new venue, made possible by Ms. Natasha Middleton, for the awarding of 3 Casola Prizes for 2025,. A fine selection of luncheon entrees, accompanied by selected wines from their extensive wine cave made for a lovely 'pranzo'.

The first Casola Prize was awarded to Ms. Francesca Lanese, of Pepperdine Univ. Prior to her award, Prof. Corbucci spoke about her amazing student and her bravery during the recent Malibu fires insuring the safety of her fellow students. Ms. Lanese received a warm welcome from the members.

Our second Casola Prize was awarded to Mr. Federico Trudu, Ph.C. of USC. He recently returned from Sicily as part of his political and immigration research. He shared the important work underway for European immigration solutions.

The final Casola Prize for 2025 was awarded to UCLA's Ph.C., Ms. Isabella Dante.

Isabella was unable to attend, as she was in transit to Bologna as part of her Ph.D. studies at Cine Bologna. Accepting her award was Dr. Thomas Harrison, Chair Emeritus of UCLA's Italian studies Dept. who described her important studies and research into the role of women in Italian cinema.

Each winner has their 'thank you' letter and photo posted on the PIC website for additional bio info.
