My academic research brings together my passion for cinema, comedy, and Italian culture, as well as my engagement with social issues related to my country. Indeed, I’m currently working on my doctoral dissertation, which deals with the representation of the Italian mafia in film and TV and how this has taken on comic undertones in the last few decades. The funds received through the Casola Prize will help me research this further, as I will consult the national TV and cinema archives in Rome to find crucial material unavailable in the U.S. or online.
